Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last Updated: January 2026
This page explains your right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and provides you with the means to exercise that right.
Your Right to Opt Out
If you are a California resident, you have the right to direct us to stop selling or sharing your personal information to third parties. This right is guaranteed under California Civil Code Section 1798.120 (CCPA) and its amendment, the CPRA.
Once you submit an opt-out request, we are required by law to honor your decision. We will not ask you to reconsider or opt back in for at least twelve (12) months after you exercise this right.
What “Sell” and “Share” Mean Under California Law
Under the CCPA/CPRA, “selling” and “sharing” personal information have specific legal definitions that are broader than traditional meanings.
Selling includes any disclosure, transfer, or communication of personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
Sharing includes any disclosure of personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes, regardless of whether money is exchanged.
Does Everleafbooks Sell or Share Personal Information?
We do not sell your personal information for monetary compensation.
However, like many online retailers, we use third-party advertising and analytics services that may constitute “sharing” under California law. Specifically:
Advertising Partners:
- Google Ads — We may share browsing behavior and device identifiers for targeted advertising
- Facebook/Meta Pixel — We may share browsing activity for ad targeting and measurement
Analytics Services:
- Google Analytics — We share usage data to analyze website traffic and improve our services
When you visit our Website, these services may collect information about your browsing activity through cookies and similar tracking technologies. Under the CPRA, this data sharing for advertising purposes qualifies as “sharing” your personal information.
How to Opt Out
You have several options to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information:
Option 1: Submit an Opt-Out Request
Complete the form below or contact us directly:
- Email: contact@everleafbooks.com
- Phone: +1 (408) 618-6966
Please include in your request:
- Your full name
- Your email address associated with any orders or account
- A statement that you wish to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
Option 2: Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. GPC is a browser setting or extension that automatically communicates your opt-out preference to websites you visit.
To enable GPC:
- Download a GPC-compatible browser or extension (such as Firefox, DuckDuckGo, Brave, or the Privacy Badger extension)
- Enable the GPC setting in your browser preferences
When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will automatically treat it as a valid opt-out request and disable sharing of your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Option 3: Adjust Cookie Preferences
You can limit data sharing by adjusting your cookie settings:
- Disable third-party cookies in your browser settings
- Use browser extensions that block tracking cookies
- Opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools:
- Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com
- Facebook Ad Preferences: facebook.com/ads/preferences
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
What Happens After You Opt Out
Once we receive and verify your opt-out request:
- We will stop sharing your personal information with third-party advertising partners within fifteen (15) business days
- We will disable advertising cookies and tracking pixels for your account or device
- You may still see advertisements from us, but they will not be based on your personal information or browsing behavior
- Essential website functions, including order processing and customer service, will continue to operate normally
Please Note:
- Opting out does not affect information previously shared before your request
- Opting out does not prevent us from sharing information with service providers who help us operate our business (such as payment processors and shipping partners), as these are not considered “sales” or “sharing” under California law
- If you clear your browser cookies or use a different device, you may need to submit a new opt-out request or enable GPC on that device
Verification Process
To protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized requests, we may need to verify your identity before processing your opt-out request. Verification may include:
- Confirming the email address you provide matches our records
- Asking you to confirm information associated with your account or recent orders
We will not require you to create an account solely to submit an opt-out request.
We Will Not Discriminate Against You
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your right to opt out. This means we will not:
- Deny you goods or services
- Charge you different prices or rates
- Provide you with a different level or quality of service
- Suggest that you will receive a different price or level of service
Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. If you use an authorized agent, we may require:
- Written authorization signed by you
- Verification of your identity
- Confirmation that the agent is authorized to act on your behalf
To submit a request through an authorized agent, please contact us at contact@everleafbooks.com.
Additional Privacy Rights
In addition to your right to opt out, California residents have the following rights under the CCPA/CPRA:
- Right to Know: Request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
- Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require this limitation
